In this way you can avoid high accommodation costs and are thus able to have affordable holidays in someone else’s room. The goal of Exchangemyroom.com is to make an inexpensive holiday or city trip possible for every student! You can use Exchangemyroom.com to arrange a place to stay for short weekends as well as longer trips.
Exchanging your room through Exchangemyroom.com is extremely easy. You can register for free in less than a minute! Then you have to provide some details about your room, and upload several photo’s on your profile page. When you are registered you are able to search the database for available rooms during the period of your planned holidays or weekend. You can look for a certain time period, locations or room characteristics. When you have found a room you like, you can send the owner a message about when you would like to exchange rooms. If the other member is willing to exchange rooms, but unable to exchange on the proposed dates, he or she is able to suggest other dates by sending a new proposal. When both members agree on the exchange, they need to make a small contribution of €14,95 in order to obtain each other’s contact information. How you proceed is up to you. You can decide to meet halfway and exchange your keys, send the keys by mail order or ask a friend to welcome your exchangers and hand them the key. Therefore it is strictly forbidden to charge any fees. What about my landlord? In most countries home exchange is legally treated as inviting a guest into your house and is therefore allowed. We do highly recommend you though to consult your landlord and other residents beforehand. Is the payment safe? Yes. Exchangemyroom.com uses PayPal as payment service. What if my property gets damages? Sometimes, damage occurs accidentally and the responsibility for reimbursement always lies with the person who caused the damage. What if my exchange partner cancels at the last minute? If you are sure your exchange is finalized, we advise you and your exchange partner to book your plane tickets at the same time. After this you send him or her a copy of the tickets, this will make cancellation very unlikely. If a cancellation still occurs, we advise you to check your insurance company. If they indicate that you are not insured for these kind of damages, the other party is obliged to compensate.
